The first Vogue record (… yes before Madonna) where Mark, William and Malcolm sampled snippets from the Voguing Houses featured in the (then unreleased) documentary ‘Paris Is Burning’. Willie Ninja was also present at the mixing sessions.

McLaren was so impressed with Mark and William’s 12″ mix that he scrapped his original version and included an album version by Moore and Orbit (sounding slightly different from their 12″ mix – with a new intro) as the official LP mix for ‘Deep In Vogue’ on the ‘Waltz Darling’ album.

Deep In Vogue first came out in Europe in 1989 as the b-side of the Waltz Darling single under the name of Malcolm McLaren & The Bootzilla Orchestra. Shortly after – it was then released as an A-side in the US and went to number 1 on the Billboard Dance chart.

‘Deep In Vogue’ was then rereleased in 1990 with the slight name change of Malcolm McLaren And The House Of McLaren – after Madonna’s ‘Vogue’ became a hit. ‘Deep In Vogue’ is now rightfully promoted to the A side (the fact that Mark and William’s mix went to number 1 on the US Billboard Dance chart was also a plus).

The ‘Deep In Vogue (Ambient Mix)’ is only available on the CD SINGLE (titled ‘Opulence – You Own Everything’) & UK DJ PROMO [EPIC XPR 1522] .
